Children are cherished at St John’s, and there are special activities for them during the 9.30am service on Sunday mornings. Through our work with children, young people and families we aim to equip and encourage them in their own spiritual journey and for all to be given the opportunity to experience the love God has for each one of us.

Kim Leach, our new Children & Families Leader, has recently joined us; this is a joint appointment with St John’s Church of England Primary School, so she spends part of her time at the School.

Children and young people come into the church with the rest of the congregation for the first 10 minutes of the service. They then divide into two groups according to age:

‘Rising Stars’ (for children up to aged 5) meet in the Pauling Room. We have a Bible story, crafts, prayer time, singing and playtime.VictoriaM

‘The Big God Space’ (for children aged 5 – 10) takes place in the Jubilee Hall. Each Sunday we look at a Bible story, activities, crafts, songs and have a prayer time.

This youth group (for young people aged 11 and over) meets on Sunday evenings, 6.00 – 7.30pm, in the Lodge (in the Church grounds next to the Jubilee Hall). The group goes more deeply into the context of what is written in the Bible, what we can learn from it and how to apply it to our lives.

This runs during school termtime on Thursday mornings, 10.00 – 11.30am, in the Jubilee Hall.

As a church, we believe that children and young people are important in the eyes of God, and so we strive to make this statement a reality for each of the children and young people we care for. Watch this video to find out about how we make St John’s a safe place for children and vulnerable adults:
