The Assistant Minister, Revd Jill Preece, has special responsibility for pastoral care. In addition, clergy and lay ministers of communion take Holy Communion to individuals at home and in residential care homes.
St John’s is linked to PARCHE (Pastoral Action in Residential Care Homes for the Elderly), an inter-church scheme in Eastbourne whereby churches provide teams to visit care homes, befriending and supporting residents.
St John’s is also on the rota of Eastbourne churches holding services for patients at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
Byron Stevens, a member of St John’s Church, is the co-ordinator of Linking Lives Eastbourne, set up to respond to the needs of isolated people in the area.
